The difference between Goals & Values.

Goals help us determine our destination.

Systems help us reach our goals by charting a path towards them and giving us processes to follow.

Values help us determine what to say “Yes” or “No” to on a micro-scale, day-to-day, to determine what the most efficient way to reach our goals is.

What serves the greater purpose and what hinders the process?

I believe many of us are too focused on our Goals, without having the proper framework in life to operate from — A sound Value System. Our behaviour is dictated by the Values we set out for ourselves. If you haven’t set up a Value System consciously, it’s likely you have had one imposed upon you by those who surround you; Parental figures or your immediate society or culture.

Ask yourself: Do you want to use somebody else’s Value System to orient your life?
